Obama Narcissism: Part 1

We all have met “that guy.” He is charming, smooth, seems intelligent, smiles a lot, sounds good, seems to have a lot to offer, but aside from a slight tendency to always talk about himself, seems perfectly amazing. Swept off your feet you revel in the new “wonder guy” only to find out after the commitment has been made, that much of what he says just isn’t true. After a time you realize that you only matter when he is needy and that he doesn’t really care about you (“Players only love you when they’re playing,” Fleetwood Mac).  The more extreme version of the narcissist, the sociopath, is a personality type that many of us have unfortunately experienced first hand.

This is the man who has just been elected to a second term.

David Kupelian, author of the fabulous book The Marketing of Evil, describes President Obama’s behavior as “malignant narcissistic personality disorder.” So I asked the staff at Red, White, and Lori to collect examples of Obama’s over-the-top narcissism and to be frank, this is nothing short of a book project. There are simply more examples of this than we could list in months of columns, so we had to narrow it down to just a few. Even after heavy editing, this will be one of the longest pieces I have posted at Red, White and Lori. Pulitzer prize-winning columnist George Will, pointed out in the Washington Post, “Barack Obama’s intellectual sociopathy – his often breezy and sometimes loutish indifference to truth – should no longer startle.”

Obama’s lies could fill another book! Here is a partial list from only the first month of the Obama presidency, courtesy of my dear friend Chuck Norton who wrote this editorial for a college publication in February, 2009:

You have reneged on your repeated pledges of transparency (1, 2, 3, 4, 5,) and several other issues.

You bragged that your stimulus bill had no “earmarks” yet your own Senator Schumer has stated that the stimulus bill was filled with “porky amendments”. The AP, whose coverage was very sympathetic to your candidacy, has said that you are being deceptive.

You promised to put legislation up on the internet for 2-5 days before it is voted on. Starting with bill number one (HR1) that promise was broken. You promised a new era of bipartisanship and then locked Republicans out of the bill negotiations. The final version only came out a few hours before the vote, but your lobbyist special interest friends got copies of the “porky”, special interest lined stimulus bill before most members of Congress even saw the final version.

Your wife Michelle criticized one of the Bush tax cuts because it returned $600 to the taxpayer. The tax cut (or more accurately stated “your tax deduction table modification” as the tax rate was never changed) you bragged about that was in the “porky” stimulus bill averages out to $13 a week, which totals $676.

According to the analysts from Bloomberg, Fox, universities, and even NBC (1, 2, 3,),  who has been in the tank for you more than any other media outlet, your stimulus program does not do much to create jobs and will cost well over $200,000 per job it does create.

You keep saying that Republicans want to do nothing when you know that every Republican in the Senate voted for an alternative bill that was so good when it was run through the economic model that YOUR administration uses it created twice the jobs with half the money.

You hold a “Fiscal Responsibility Summit” and special interests were all over it. You have appointed lobbyists all over your administration after promising not to (1, 2, 3).

Quite a list! And all in just 30 days! The editorial also points out that while Obama runs against “Wall Street millionaires and billionaires” since 2005 Obama has taken more money from Wall Street, Fannie Mae and the defunct Lehman Brothers (2, 3) than anyone.

Nothing speaks like the video:

The lies about Obamacare have been flowing non-stop for three years and continue to this day. Sarah Palin put together a long, fully sourced list of whopping lies that Obama said his health care law would mean for us. The Blaze has a great video about the latest lies from Obama and the left about the disaster that Obamacare implementation has been for working people.

Obama has to lie because his ideas are party line Marxist and the results of his policies have been calamitous to the economy and to our national security.

Remember when Obama did this to the Presidential seal?

Seal of the President of the United States, with Obama "O" superimposed

And then there are the constant Obama/deity/Jesus references…

Obama with Obama "O" in background to resemble a halo.

This debuted at Union Square in New York:

Obama with crown of thorns and arms spread, as if hanging on a crucifix.

Obama replaces Rosa Parks with…himself:

Split image: Rosa Parks on a bus on the left - Obama on a similar bus on the right.

We have many examples of just this type of display; Obama talking about himself at funerals, tragedies etc. Here he is at the funeral of Hawaii Senator Daniel Inouye going into a lengthy description of himself:

David Kupelian’s description of the malignant narcissist really hits home:

  1. A grandiose view of one’s achievements (everything with Obama is “historic”)
  2. The utter inability to handle criticism (everyone criticizing Obama or his policies is attacked as extremist or racist, his White House even condemning Fox News as “not a real news organization”)
  3. A lack of genuine empathy
  4. A person who does not consider serial lying to be in any way immoral or problematic.

This is the stuff that tyrants are made of. The coverage of Obama is really a “cult of personality” similar to banana republic tyrants who put their face everywhere and on important cultural symbols.

Speaking of banana republic tyrants this last example was difficult to ignore:

The Obamacare logo looks very similar to the Nazi Logo.

The truly malignant narcissist will let his sense of superiority lead him to criminal behavior.  More on this and demonstrations of his genuine lack of empathy to follow in Part II.
